How We Started

The Hellebore Giving Fund was started in 2025 by Sue Bannatyne and Betsy Kuo.  After spending several decades working in global organisations, Sue and Betsy connected while volunteering at a Melbourne food relief charity.  They quickly realised that they shared a passion for giving and helping others succeed. They spent many hours discussing how they could apply their resources and knowledge to magnify the impact of small charities. It was from these discussions that the Hellebore Giving Fund took root, and then blossomed.

Our Core Values

Simplicity

Simplicity is about respect for people's time and energy. We believe in clear direct communication and streamlined processes. We aim to minimize administrative burdens to allow everyone to focus on what really matters.

Professionalism

We set a high bar for conduct and accountability. It's about demonstrating ethical behaviour in every interaction, operating with integrity, and making decisions with fairness in mind.

Hustle

We believe that success requires more than just intelligence or good intentions. It demands a willingness to go the extra mile, to learn from setbacks, and to continuously seek out new opportunities.

Purple Flower Buds

Hellebore Giving Fund acknowledges the Wurundjeri and Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation as traditional owners and custodians of the land on which we stand and we pay our respect to them, their customs, their culture, to elders past and present, and to their emerging leaders.
